Albuquerque Fire Officials Talk Water Safety and Rescues During Monsoon Season

In a heart-pounding display of bravery and swift coordination, Albuquerque’s first responders orchestrated a series of potential daring arroyo rescues yesterday. An unexpected monsoon came into the Duke City with a force.

As monsoon season unleashes its fury upon the city, arroyos that are usually dry transform into raging torrents, catching many unsuspecting residents off-guard. In a race against time, firefighters and emergency personnel can execute a well-choreographed operation, rescuing stranded individuals from precarious positions along the arroyos.

Albuquerque Fire Rescue’s Lt. Jason Fejer met with the media to talk about the dangers of water rescues and the potential loss of life.
