Albuquerque Man Admits to Having Trove of Child Porn on His Phone and Feels Guilty

On May 24th, 2024, the Albuquerque Police Department conducted a search warrant after receiving a tip about a person having child pornography on their phone located in Albuquerque. The image was a 3 to 4 year old in a sexually suggestive position.

APD identified 21-year-old Irick Charles of Albuquerque, as the person who had the image in his possession.

According to a criminal complaint, police went to Charles’s apartment on the westside of Albuquerque and spoke to him. When they located the phone, Charles gave permission to access the contents and police found over 150 photos and videos of child pornography.

Charles admitted that he obtained this material through the Internet from apps like Messenger and Enigma. Most of the content was of children under 13 years of age.

Charles stated to investigators he feels guilty when he accesses this material but can not seem to stop. He was booked into the Bernalillo County Metropolitan Detention Center.
