According to an email sent out from APD’s PIO account, APD’s Motors Unit was called out to a single vehicle fatal crash at Tramway Blvd. NE, just north of Comanche Rd. NE, shortly after 5:00AM on April 1, 2023.
The vehicle reportedly traveled off the roadway and collided with a light pole and traffic box. APD also says the vehicle rolled over and the female passenger was ejected. The female passenger was taken to the University of New Mexico Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. According to APD, DWI officers are at UNMH conducting a detailed investigation into whether the driver was impaired. APD states that at this point in the investigation, it is not known if speed was a factor in the crash.
