APD Violent Crimes detectives work the scene of a SWAT situation that turned deadly.

SE ABQ – An overnight SWAT standoff has ended early this morning and a small child was found inside the home deceased. Officers were serving a warrant for a dangerous fugitive at a home near 8100 San Joaquin Ave in the SE overnight.

Neighbors said they heard officers using “flash bangs” (less lethal explosive devices) on the home to remove the suspect. The suspect did surrender early this morning however when

Officers went in to check the home for additional victims or suspects they located a deceased child inside the home. There is no official statement from Albuquerque Fire or Albuquerque Police on how the fire inside the home started nor how the child died.

A family member near the scene accused APD SWAT team of “killing” the occupant of the home because they insisted flash bangs started the fire.

A neighbor said they themselves have a 28 month old child and said there was a child around the same age that lived at the household where this death was reported. ABQ RAW has not confirmed the age of the victim yet with APD.
