According to BCSO, their Violent Crime Detectives have detained the photographed stabbing and arson suspect. The alleged suspect is currently being questioned by detectives. BCSO will release more information when official charges have been filed. According to BCSO’s updated social media post, BCSO wanted to thank the community for reporting information to their detectives and deputies. BCSO said they received many calls and messages from the community that assisted with their investigation.
Initial Post:
The Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office is requesting the public’s help in locating an offender from a stabbing that occurred this morning, at approximately 7:30am. The Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a stabbing in the open space area near 2nd Street and Woodward Rd SW (Bosque trail). According to witnesses, the offender was described as a black adult male that was wearing gray sweatpants, no shirt, and red shoes. The male suspect then fled the area on a silver and black scooter. The victim of the stabbing was transported to a local hospital, but their condition is unknown.
A short time after the suspect fled the first scene, a fire was started nearby. Witnesses from the scene of the fire described the same suspect from the earlier stabbing near 2nd Street and Woodward Rd SW.

According to BCSO, “the open space area south of Bridge Blvd to Rio Bravo Blvd is closed, as deputies are now searching for the alleged stabbing and arson suspect.” Please avoid the area. BCSO was informed that the suspect likely changed his clothes and he is reportedly now wearing khaki shorts, red shoes, and no shirt. The suspect photo is attached above.
