Albuquerque, NM – The Bernalillo County District Attorney’s Office is committed to the pursuit of justice. The week of January 08, 2024, there are four jury trials taking place in Bernalillo County.


Stephen Griffin

Stephen Griffin*

Case Number: D-202-CR-202300550

· 2 counts of Aggravated Assault (Deadly Weapon) (Firearm Enhancement)

*Griffin was convicted on January, 10th, 2024, his sentencing will take place at a later date.


Roger Wilson

Roger Wilson*

Case Number: D-202-CR-202201945

· 2 Counts First Degree Murder (Willful & Deliberate)

· 2 Counts Great Bodily Harm by Vehicle (DWI)

· Unlawful Taking of a Motor Vehicle

· Leaving the Scene of an Accident (Great Bodily Harm or Death)

*Wilson stands accused of colliding with another vehicle while traveling at approximately 60 mph on Central Ave. S.W. at around 12:40 a.m. on June 29, 2022. The two vehicles were reportedly engaged in a road rage incident, originating from Pat Hurley Park and progressing eastbound on Central. Wilson, operating a silver Honda, intentionally forced a blue Hyundai, driven by Zabihollah Yaqubi, off the road.

At the scene, Alyssa Salazar and Alize Henson, both 14, tragically lost their lives as passengers in the Hyundai. The crash resulted in Alize Henson and Alyssa Salazar being ejected from the vehicle. Yaqubi, the driver of the Hyundai, and an unidentified male passenger were taken to the hospital for treatment of their injuries. Wilson was linked to the crimes through surveillance video and Facebook messages, according to investigators.

Wilson’s trial began on Monday, January 8th, 2024.

Update:

On Friday, January 12th, a jury convicted Roger Wilson of two counts of second-degree murder, two counts of great bodily injury by vehicle (DWI), Unlawful taking of a Motor Vehicle and leaving the scene of an accident. Wilson is facing more than 40 years in the Department of Corrections.


Dominic Rodriguez

Dominic Rodriguez*

Case Number: D-202-CR-201901735

· 2 Counts Criminal Sexual Penetration Second Degree (Child 13 to 18) (Force or Coercion)

· Criminal Sexual Contact of a Minor in the Fourth Degree (Force or Coercion)

*Rodriguez is accused of sexually assaulting a 14-year-old relative. The female juvenile victim reported the alleged assault to a school counselor. At the time, prosecutors attempted to file a motion to detain Rodriguez until trial, but the request was denied.

Rodriguez’s trial started on Monday, January 8th, 2024.

Update:

On Friday, January 12th, a jury convicted Dominic Rodriguez of two counts of Criminal Sexual Penetration of a minor and Criminal Sexual Contact.  He faces more than 30 years in the Department of Corrections.


Jaime Sandoval-Gonzalez

Jaime Sandoval-Gonzalez

Case Number: D-202-CR-202101484

· 2 Counts of Criminal Sexual Penetration in the First Degree (Child Under 13)

False Imprisonment

· Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor

*In March of 2020, Sandoval-Gonzalez’s reportedly locked herself in a bathroom with an 11-year-old child, giving the victim alcohol and tobacco, joined the victim in a bathtub, and touched her inappropriately. Sandoval-Gonzalez was scheduled for a court appearance at a motion hearing on December 21, 2022; however, she reportedly did not show up. She was arrested for failing to appear on February 18, 2023.

Sandoval-Gonzalez’s trial began on January 9th, 2024.

***As always, defendants are presumed innocent unless and until they’re convicted in a court of law.***
