SW Albuquerque-

According to Bernalillo County Sheriff’s office, around 6:30 pm, deputies responded to a call for service near Shelly Drive SW and the South Frontage Road. BCSO Violent Crimes and Homicide Detectives are en route to the scene to investigate a suspicious death. The scene is active, and the investigation is ongoing.

An email sent on Monday from BCSO:

On Sunday, February 27th, 2022, BCSO deputies responded to a fight in progress in the southwest Mesa near Route 66 Casino. The calling party witnessed several subjects in the area drinking alcohol, firing guns, and acting belligerent which escalated to a physical fight.

When deputies arrived, they located 63-year-old Larry Martinez deceased on scene. The cause of death is unknown at this time. BCSO Homicide and Violent Crime Detectives were immediately called to the scene, and several parties believed to be involved were questioned.

At this time, no formal charges have been filed, and the investigation is ongoing. BCSO Homicide, Violent Crime and Crime Scene Investigators are actively working on the case, and more details will be made available once the investigation allows.

This is the 24th homicide of 2022 in Albuquerque.
