SE Albuquerque –

On November 2nd, 2022, ABQ RAW reported about a suspicious death at the El Pueblo II Apartments where Albuquerque Police officers found a man dead from a gunshot wound to the back of the head.

According to the criminal complaint, nineteen-year-old Jahiem Burns of Albuquerque, shot and killed Zackary Lewis after the two got into a wrestling match over a gun. When officers arrived Burns was acting irate and stating he did not want to go to jail. In the back of the patrol car he gave voluntary statements to police:

“Tell Lucy, I didn’t mean to, I’m sorry. I killed the nigga. I didn’t mean to. I didn’t intentionally mean to blow his brains out. I wish he would have never grabbed the gun,” said Burns.

The complaint goes on to say, Burns stated he and Lewis were playing a video game called Grand Theft Auto and watching Tik Tok videos. They both started “talking smack” and giving each other “shit.” He said Lewis always grabs a gun and points it people. The two began to wrestle and Burns grabbed the top of the handgun and heard a “boom.” Lewis and the handgun fell to the floor. Burns indicated the gun was stolen.
