26-year-old Jordan Salazar

Downtown Albuquerque

On June 9th, 2023, the Albuquerque Police Department received a call about a homeless man battering a security guard at a property in Downtown Albuquerque. The suspect was identified as 26-year-old Jordan Salazar. The security officer victim said he was struck by Salazar. According to the criminal complaint, APD searched the area and found Salazar in the downtown area. Salazar was apparently very combative with police and asked “Why are you chasing me?” The officer noted in the complaint they were merely walking toward him and not running after Salazar as Salazar claimed.

The complaint goes on to state that at some point Salazar armed himself with a metal pipe. Salazar also acted in a way that was indicative of meth usage. Eventually Salazar was taken into custody without further incident and booked into the Bernalillo County Metro Detention Center. Salazar will have a hearing at a later date.
