In a press release issued at 5:05 PM, the New Mexico State Police (NMSP) confirmed the discovery of Carlos Hernandez, assuring the public of his safety. The search for Carlos, initiated following an Amber Alert on April 22, 2024, reached a positive conclusion as authorities located him.
Carlos, who was last seen on April 22, 2024, at 1041 Lamberton Place NE in Albuquerque, was allegedly taken by his non-custodial mother, Angelique Sanchez, 39. The pair was observed traveling in a white Hyundai Sonata bearing a New Mexico license plate.
Previously reported missing to the Albuquerque Police Department (APD) on April 12, 2024, Carlos was sighted with Angelique on April 22 at New Mexico Human Services. Upon NMSP’s arrival at the scene, Angelique evaded authorities, fleeing in the Sonata with Carlos. Her escape led to a collision with a State Police patrol vehicle before driving against traffic on Menaul.
The NMSP refrained from pursuing the vehicle due to Carlos’s presence. An Amber Alert was on April 22, 2024 around 4:40 PM.
While the white Sonata was recovered on April 23, 2024, both Carlos and Angelique were not located at that time. The NMSP announced Carlos was found today, Wednesday, April 24th, but the exact details are unknown.
The ongoing investigation seeks to uncover further details surrounding the incident. NMSP promises to keep the public updated as the investigation progresses.
Thank you, RAW community, for sharing the Amber Alert and expressing concern about Carlos and his safety and well-being.
