Albuquerque – A multi-agency effort is underway to rescue 21 stranded people in two Tram cable cars. Around 9:30PM last night. According to Sandia Ski Area officials’ moisture and wind caused fast icing on the cables making the cars get stuck.
There have been a few passengers sharing photos from the cable cars and show emergency provisions such as blankets, food, and water. They were getting health checks by medical professionals and contact with rescue crews.
The rescue plan included the passengers rappelling from the cable car to an area below for rescue teams to get them to safety.Bernalillo County Sheriff’s office was carrying a live feed from the police helicopter showing the rescue. The conditions around 1:05PM appeared to be close to zero visibility with heavy snow.
