Tow truck operators haul away two vehicles that were involved in a shootout and crash.
NW Albuquerque –
Around 1:30 AM on October 21st, 2023, people in the Paradise Hills Civic neighborhood were awakened by gunfire and cars racing down their streets. Residents called the police, and the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Department was dispatched to the area of 5000 block of Alegria RD NW in response to the reports of shots fired and street racing.
According to BCSO spokeswoman Deputy Angelina Navarro, when deputies arrived, they found two crashed vehicles and learned that at least four people had been taken to the hospital by private parties. The victims had either been involved in the crashes or had gunshot wounds.
The conditions of those involved were unknown at this time. While on scene, we observed a white four-door sedan with bullet holes on the passenger side and blood stains on the roof. Witnesses told us they heard at least 50 shots, and the gunfire sounded like machine guns going off.
This is an ongoing investigation and BCSO detectives are waiting to speak with the victims who were at the hospital. We will update the story when more information becomes available.
