Just before 2:10 PM, a stabbing was reported near Central Ave. NE and Wisconsin St. NE. According to the calling party, a woman was stabbed in the neck by a man. A witness told the 911 dispatcher the man who stabbed the woman had a head laceration and provided his description.

When officers from the Albuquerque Police Department arrived, they located a woman with at least one large, six inch gash across her neck and she was bleeding profusely. While on scene we observed the woman talking with police and rescue personnel. She had blood all over her person. She was transported to UNMH for her injuries.

While we were on scene, APD apprehended a man near the 240 block of Vermont St SE. It is an alleyway that has homeless tents. A weapon was also found at this second scene. The man was claiming he stabbed the woman in self-defense and a group of people hit him in the head with a brick.

If we gain more information about the woman’s condition, the man who was detained, or any further developments, we will update you.
