Bus Stop Brawl Leads to One Arrest and One Hospitalized

Just after 1PM, two men were seen squarin’ off near the San Mateo Towers at the bus stop. The pair could be seen yelling at each other and doing the fight dance towards each other. Other people at the bus stop began breaking out their cell phone to record the action. One of the men eventually threw the first punch and the now physical fight continued until one of the men was knocked out and thrown into the street.

A few Good Smartians stopped their cars on San Mateo Blvd and got out to drag the unconscious man out of the roadway and onto the bus stop.

The offender could be seen fleeing southbound on San Mateo and tried to blend into the ART Bus Stop at Central and San Mateo. Witnesses directed Albuquerque Police Officers to the Central bus stop to make contact with the suspect. One witness ran down San Mateo and called out to police and directed them to the suspect.

“You’re the one who started all the shit over there,” said one of the witnesses.

Officers questioned the suspect and eventually placed him under arrest. He could be heard telling police that the scratches and bruises on his hands were because of mosquito bites The other man was evaluated by rescue personnel and taken away in an ambulance to a local hospital.
