  • Aggravated Battery Against a Household Member (Deadly Weapon)

Judge Matthew E. Chavez is scheduled to preside over the jury trial in the case of State of New Mexico v. Michael Joseph Thompson on May 19, 2025, at 8:30 AM in Courtroom 338. This jury trial will continue in Courtroom 338 in Albuquerque, NM, on May 20, 2025, at 1:30 PM, and again on May 21, 2025, at 8:30 AM.


Brandon Bolin

Case Number: D-202-CR-2024-02234

  • 2 Counts Aggravated Assault (Deadly Weapon)(Firearm Enhancement)
  • Negligent Use of a Deadly Weapon 

At 8:30 AM, on May 22, 2025, a jury trial in the case of State of New Mexico v. Brandon James Bolin is scheduled before Judge Matthew E. Chavez in Courtroom 338.


Erik Lea

Case Number: D-202-CR-2019-01452

  • Kidnapping (First Degree) (Victim 18 or Over)
  • Criminal Sexual Penetration in the Second Degree (Results in Personal Injury)

A jury trial in the case of State of New Mexico v. Erik Thomas Lea was scheduled to take place before Judge Courtney B. Weaks at 9:00 AM on May 19, 20, and 21, 2025, in Courtroom 416.

We have subsequently learned that Erik Lea was found guilty Monday afternoon in a cold case rape trial. The trial began last week, continued into Monday for closing arguments, and was handed over to the jury later that day. The jury returned a guilty verdict.

Reportedly, a sentencing hearing is scheduled for July 22, 2025, at 1:30 PM, with Judge Courtney B. Weaks presiding.


As a reminder, all defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
