APD Investigates Fatal Crash Involving Motorcycle

Albuquerque –

According to APD, it’s Fatal Crash Unit is taking over a crash involving a vehicle and a motorcycle. The crash occurred near Unser BL NW and Ladera RD NW, officers arrived on scene and learned one individual who was involved had succumbed to injuries on the scene. 

Ladera BL NW will be closed westbound and eastbound between Unser BL NW and Parkway RD NW for a few hours while they investigate the scene.

UPDATE:

APD’s Fatal Crash Unit is investigating a deadly crash involving a vehicle and a Moped on Albuquerque’s West Side.

Investigators with APD’s Fatal Crash Unit determined that a white Hyundai was stopped at a stop sign on south Casa Verde at Ladera. Witnesses stated that the vehicle was stopped for a reasonable amount of time. They appeared to check for traffic and then started into the intersection to make a left hand turn to go east on Ladera.

A red Moped going at a high rate of speed west on Ladera then quickly passed vehicles in the left lane and struck into the front of the Hyundai. The motorcycle rider, an adult female, was ejected from the moped. She was not wearing a helmet and struck her head on the ground. The woman died on scene.

The crash is still under investigation.
