Albuquerque, NM–
According to BCSO, on August 11, 2025, at approximately 11:51 p.m., Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to the area of 12232 High Mesa Dr NW, near the Water Authority tower, in reference to a possible deceased person. The media was notified of the homicide call-out on August 14, 2025, at 11:24 AM.

This isn’t the first time BCSO has failed to inform the public in a timely manner about a potential public safety issue, such as the discovery of a deceased person. ABQRAW has also criticized the Albuquerque Police Department for delaying the reporting of homicides. We are committed to holding both agencies equally accountable for transparency, especially when timely information impacts public safety.
According to BCSO, deputies spoke with the reporting party and located an unresponsive female on the side of a dirt arroyo. The woman, later identified by the Office of the Medical Investigator as 36-year-old Bianca Ruiz, was determined to be deceased at the scene.
Homicide and Violent Crimes detectives responded and initiated an investigation. Based on injuries and evidence observed at the scene, detectives are investigating the case as a homicide.
