Motorcyclist Killed in Crash; APD Officer Struck in Secondary Collision

Albuquerque –

Around 10 PM, officers from the Albuquerque Police Department were sent to a vehicle versus motorcycle crash near Gibson Blvd SE and Carlisle Blvd SE.

The motorcyclist died at the scene from their injuries.

While officers were blocking streets for an investigation, another vehicle struck an APD officer’s car that was on scene near Gibson Blvd SE and Maxwell St SE.

After the officer’s car was hit, it was reportedly pushed into the officer. The APD officer reportedly is okay. The driver of the car was detained, and a firearm was found inside the car.

APD’s Motor Unit is being called out to investigate the fatal vehicle versus motorcycle crash.

Gibson is closed between Amherst Dr SE and Maxwell St SE. Carlisle is closed between Crest Ave SE and Gibson.

Drivers are asked to respect the perimeter and not drive through it.
