Dog Grooming Store Owner Arrested After Pointing Sharp Object at City Code Enforcement

Albuquerque –

On November 4th, 2025, City Code Enforcement officials went to the Barking Bad Dog Grooming, located at 1619 San Pedro Dr. N.E., allegedly to check on business paperwork. When they met with the owner, he allegedly pointed a sharp object at them and the City workers backed off and left the scene.

APD was called to the scene because of the alleged weapon, the man refused to meet with police and decided to barricade himself inside the business. The standoff lasted for a few hours, and then he decided to give up peacefully when his wife arrived on scene.

While on the scene, we heard APD calling out for an “Alex Campbell” to exit the business. A search online indicated that he is the owner of Barking Bad Grooming and has had past problems with the City of Albuquerque. The problems range from permits to licenses for the business.

We reached out to Code Enforcement PIO Tim Walsh about the incident and he declined to comment and referred us to APD.

The man arrested will more than likely face felony charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. We will update this story when we learn more.
