Teen Dead, Others Critical After Crash in SW ABQ

APD’s Fatal Crash Unit is investigating a deadly overnight crash that resulted in the death of a 15-year-old girl and critical injuries to three others.

The two-vehicle crash occurred on Saturday just before midnight in the area of Coors Blvd. and Bridge Blvd., S.W. Four people – three from one car and the driver of a pick-up truck — were transported to the hospital in critical condition. One of the passengers died at the hospital.

Investigators determined that an orange Ford Mustang was traveling south on Coors Blvd. at a high rate of speed. At Bridge Blvd, the Mustang ran through a red light striking into the passenger side of a white GMC pick-up.

The 18-year-old driver of the Mustang was critically injured. He is in stable condition at the hospital. A 15-year-old female passenger died as a result of her injuries, and a 16-year-old female passenger suffered life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the pickup, a 24-year-old man, is in critical, but stable condition at the hospital.
