Active SWAT situation Downtown ABQ, Man armed with Alleged Gun

Downtown ABQ – There is currently a large police presence downtown and it is locked down in the area of 5th and Hazedine SW.

Officers are watching a man walking around with what looks to be a gun. A SWAT team has been dispatched to the area.

We are hearing from witnesses that the “gun” seen is actually a “massage” type gun. Officers took the threat serious and established a perimeter for the community. There were a few churches and schools that were put on a lock down as police were apprehending the man.

The scene was cleared by 9:50AM with a man taken into custody. Schools in the area lifted the shelter in place and allowed to continue with school.
