AFR’s North Valley Crews Tackle Two Early Morning Fires

Albuquerque, NM –

On December 29, 2023, at around 3:30 AM, Albuquerque Fire Rescue received a dispatch to 153 Griegos Rd NW following reports of a structure fire in a single-story residential building.

Upon arrival at the scene, Rescue and Engine 6 reported active fire conditions emanating from the residence. Crews successfully brought the fire under control approximately 20 minutes after reaching the location. Extensive damage was sustained by the unoccupied structure.

There were no reported injuries to civilians or firefighters. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined, and no additional information is currently available.

Also on December 29, 2023, around 4:00 AM, Albuquerque Fire Rescue responded to a reported potential structure fire at 2802 Campbell Rd NW.

The initial AFR unit on the scene was Engine 4, which reported a fully engulfed fire affecting both the mobile home and vehicle, with flames extending to a nearby residence. Crews swiftly brought the fire under control, but both the primary mobile home and the neighboring residence sustained extensive fire damage.

Prompt assistance from neighbors facilitated the evacuation of the homeowner from the initial fire site. The rescued occupant and neighbors suffered smoke inhalation injuries and were promptly treated, then transported to a local hospital for further care; no other injuries were reported.

The fire’s cause was determined to be accidental, and no additional information is currently available.
