Just after midnight on July 9th, 2022, APD officers were called to Menaul Blvd just east of Carlisle in reference to a suspicious vehicle stopped in the right hand lane for no apparent reason. According to a criminal complaint, passers-by noticed the vehicle occupied by a male driver. Witnesses were concerned the male was drunk and took the keys from the driver of the blue GMC Sierra pickup.
The driver of the vehicle was identified as Rodfolfo Cano-Lopez, of Albuquerque. He admitted to officers that he was drinking alcohol prior to driving. While talking to Cano-Lopez Officers observed possible signs of intoxication. Cano-Lopez attempted field sobriety tests and he was not able to and nearly fell over during the tests. The investigating DWI officer did notice a strong odor of alcohol coming from Cano-Lopez.

Cano-Lopez was arrested for suspicion of DWI and he was taken to the prisoner transport center. Cano-Lopez refused a breath test.
Cano-Lopez has at least 6 prior aggravated DWI criminal cases with one prior DWI case pending a jury trial for a November 2021 case.
Reference this latest arrest, Cano-Lopez was charged with aggravated DWI (4th time), driving on a revoked license, and failure to obey sign for stopping, standing or parking.
