APD Catches Stolen Car Suspect After Foot Chase Near Uptown

Albuquerque-

Around mid day, the Albuquerque Police Department attempted to stop a stolen Cadillac Escalade in Albuquerque’s always exciting War Zone. Always hard working officers from the Southeast area command were able to get a GPS tracking device on the vehicle and monitored it travels through the city.

The vehicle fled from officers once it realized it was being followed and began to drive erratically throughout Albuquerque and headed eastbound on I-40. The driver ended up going westbound on I-40 and exited at Louisiana Blvd northbound. The SUV ended up in a business complex near Chama and Prospect NE.

A male driver and female passenger ditched the vehicle in a parking lot and started running from police. APD was able to get both into custody after a short foot chase.

The business complex was a buzz with workers in the Uptown high rise buildings looking down at the aftermath of the chase and getting all the real time tea for their lunch break.

While on scene we saw the beautiful brand new multi-million dollar APD police helicopter sporting a new paint job patrolling the area.

The male suspect will more than likely be charged with fleeing law enforcement and stolen vehicle charges.
