According to BCSO, at approximately 9:03PM, Deputies responded to an aggravated assault with a deadly weapon call at Smith’s Price Rite located at 1601 Arenal Rd SW. A store employee had observed a male and female walking into the store together and both individuals were acting suspicious. A short time later, the female suspect walked out the front entrance of the store where she set the alarm off, and the employee followed her out of the store. Concurrently, the male suspect went through the emergency exit with a basket full of stolen items. BCSO believes that the female suspect tried to distract the store employee so the male suspect could get away. However, the store employee did attempt to grab the shopping basket to recover the stolen items, but they were threatened with a box cutter. The two suspects were last seen walking south towards the TitleMax on Isleta Blvd SW and Arenal Rd SW.
