Albuquerque, NM –

The Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office is set to increase DWI enforcement efforts throughout December 2023 as part of our ongoing dedication to combatting drunk and drugged driving in the community.

From December 1 to December 31, 2023, BCSO deputies will carry out sobriety checkpoints and saturation patrols specifically targeting DWI in Bernalillo County. These proactive measures are designed to identify and apprehend individuals operating vehicles under the influence of alcohol or drugs, ultimately reducing the occurrence of impaired driving-related accidents and fatalities on our roads.

Sheriff John Allen emphasized, “Protecting our community is our top priority. Through these heightened patrols, our goal is to foster safer roads and discourage the perilous choice of driving under the influence.”

BCSO urges the community to actively participate in this life-saving initiative. If you suspect someone is driving under the influence, please promptly report it by calling 911.

Additionally, if your plans involve alcohol or drug consumption, it is crucial to arrange a safe and sober ride home in advance. Consider using rideshare services, taxis, or designate a sober driver to avoid the potentially catastrophic consequences of impaired driving.

By combining personal responsibility with proactive policing, we can significantly elevate the safety of our roadways, making Bernalillo County a more secure environment for everyone.
