SE Albuquerque –
Earlier this evening, Albuquerque Police were involved in a shooting that may have injured a suspect and has now caused a neighborhood in SE ABQ to be on lock down while police search for the person.
According to civilian APD Communications director Gilbert Gallegos’s email alert, he says: APD officers are actively searching for a suspect who may be armed and injured following an officer-involved shooting in Southeast Albuquerque. APD’s SWAT and K-9 units are being activated.
There is a large area that is currently active between San Mateo on the west and San Pedro on the east, and somewhere south of Kathryn. Residents in that perimeter are urged to stay inside their homes and lock their doors.
Witnesses have told us there are public address announcements telling them to stay in their homes as they search for the suspect. Gallegos went on to say that no officer(s) was hurt during the initial shootout.
This is a developing story and we will update when we get more information.
