NM State Police SWAT prepare to enter the Stapelton home
SE Albuquerque –
A multi agency police presence in SE Albuquerque has been going on since just after 7:00AM this morning. BCSO and NM State Police SWAT are on scene. The house has been linked to former State Rep. Sheryl Williams Stapleton. A welfare call came in this morning for Stapleton’s son, David Hendrickson. It was learned he was on pre-trial detention services and had an ankle monitor and a warrant out for his arrest for an aggravated with a deadly weapon charge.

Police were heard over the PA asking for David to come out of the house for several hours. Witnesses told us that David lives at the home with his aunt. Neighbors told us that the former State Rep. Stapleton has not been seen in the residence or normally walking her dog for months. They said she was currently in the Virgin Islands.

Court records indicate a bench warrant was issued on 3/24/2022 for Hendrickson because the GPS ankle monitor was no longer working. Hendrickson’s lawyer filed a motion stating that the monitor was not charging properly and his counsel raised issues about his mental health.

After a 12 plus hour stand off, Hendrickson was taken into custody. He was booked into Metropolitan Detention Center on his outstanding warrant.

We will update as more information becomes available.
