Albuquerque –
33-year-old Demetrius Thomas of Albuquerque is being charged for the fatal crash involving a pedestrian on September 25th, 2026 near the area of Central Ave. and Texas St. Thomas originally fled the scene but then returned later.
According to the criminal complaint, an APD officer was flagged down by Thomas’ father and he said “come over here because he’s the one who fucking did it.” His dad pointed to the Gray SUV with heavy front end damage. The complaint goes on to say Thomas’ father said he got a call from Demetrius saying he hit someone.
APD took Thomas into custody at the scene and they questioned him on the incident. He stated, “She ran out in front of me and I didn’t want to stop.”
The complaint goes on to say Thomas admitted he had “one shot of Admiral Nelson around 9AM.” Shortly, after APD officers did field sobriety tests and placed him into custody.
Thomas was charged homicide by vehicle and knowingly leaving the scene of an accident (Great Bodily Harm or Death).
Thomas has an extensive history of being charged with two DWI charges and battery against household members.
