Albuquerque –
On Saturday, September 20, 2025, at approximately 8:43 PM, deputies from the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the 6000 block of 2nd Street NW. During the incident, deputies were involved in a deputy-involved shooting.
One individual was pronounced dead on scene. BCSO states all deputies are uninjured.
2nd Street NW is currently closed between Velarde and Nara Visa.
This remains an active investigation. Additional details will be released as they become available.
UPDATE:
At a briefing just after 12:30am, BCSO Detective Carhart released more details about their deputy-involved shooting. BCSO said:
Earlier this evening, at approximately 9:00 p.m., deputies with the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office North Area Command responded to an alarm activation at a business in the 6000 block of 2nd Street NW.
While investigating the alarm, deputies encountered a male subject on the property. During the encounter, a deputy-involved shooting occurred. Deputies and medical personnel immediately attempted lifesaving measures, but the individual was pronounced deceased on scene.
The Multi-Agency Task Force is on scene and conducting a thorough investigation. There is no further threat to the community.
