UPDATE:
Several bystanders in Downtown Albuquerque reported witnessing a separate shooting near 2nd St and Gold Ave around 1:00 AM on Sunday. We contacted the Albuquerque Police Department to learn more about the incident and to determine whether it was connected to the fatal shooting at 6th Street and Central Avenue.
APD Public Information Officer Gilbert Gallegos provided the following statement:
“There was another incident at 2nd and Gold shortly after the fatal shooting. The victim suffered a head injury, but detectives are not sure if it was a bullet graze or something else. He was transported to the hospital and GVRU is investigating. They don’t believe it was related to the homicide.”
