Albuquerque –
A woman attempted to evade an Albuquerque Police officer by making an illegal U-turn and trying to avoid being pulled over. Twenty-year-old Olivia Grobecker was driving on Unser Blvd. on August 31, 2025, and was reportedly failing to maintain her lane.
According to the criminal complaint, after Grobecker made the U-turn, she got behind the APD officer’s patrol unit and continued driving. She eventually pulled into a dirt lot in an attempt to avoid the officer. When she drove out of the lot, the officer attempted to stop her. Grobecker then accelerated and made a wide turn onto Rainbow Blvd.
The complaint states that Grobecker drove across oncoming lanes of traffic, crashed, struck curbs, and came to rest in a ditch. The APD officer responded to the crash and observed that she was visibly shaking and crying, and unable to keep herself steady. While being escorted to the curb, she nearly fell several times. She admitted to the officer that she had consumed an unknown number of vodka shots at a friend’s house.
The officer located an open container of alcohol in her vehicle. At the police station, Grobecker’s breath test measured over .16. She was charged with aggravated DWI and unlawful possession of an open container while driving.
