Officers with the Albuquerque Police Department have shut down Interstate 40 eastbound near Unser Blvd following a crash and subsequent vehicle fire near Coors.

Albuquerque Fire is en route but drivers will need to exit I-40 eastbound at Unser.

Police reported that after the crash, the vehicle struck a light pole, which then fell into traffic lanes on Interstate 40.

Drivers should anticipate delays. For the latest information on road closures, traffic conditions, and delays, visit NMRoads.com.

At the time of publication, NMRoads/NMDOT dynamic road signs were not notifying drivers of the eastbound I-40 closure. Travelers are encouraged to check NMRoads traffic cameras at I-40 and 98th St or I-40 and Unser Blvd to monitor current conditions.

After a wrecker removed the burned-out vehicle from the scene, the Albuquerque Police Department reopened Interstate 40 eastbound at approximately 12:05 PM,
