Fatal Crash Overnight Claims One Who thought Coors was a Drag Strip

Albuquerque – APD investigated a deadly crash that occurred early this morning at around 12:30 a.m. It appeared two vehicles were using northbound Coors Blvd as a drag strip. One of the vehicles crashed and the driver was ejected. The adult male driver of the vehicle died at the scene.

 

Officers in the Southwest Area Command were dispatched to reports of the crash at Coors Blvd and Hanover Rd., N.W. Witnesses reported that just before the crash the vehicle was racing another vehicle. When officers arrived at the scene they discovered on occupant of the vehicle ejected and pronounced dead on scene, rescue personnel confirmed the driver was dead.

 

Upon further investigation it was determined that two vehicles were racing northbound on Coors Blvd at a high rate of speed. At the intersection with Hanover Rd., one vehicle lost control and an occupant was ejected before the vehicle impacted the building and came to rest outside of the building.

 

The other occupants of the vehicle were transported to the hospital and all suffered very minor injuries and are expected to be evaluated and released. The investigation is on-going.
