Juan Quinones, 29
SE Albuquerque –
On May 31st, 2023, an Albuquerque Police officer observed a vehicle at a stop sign on the corner of Cooper NE and Wyoming Blvd NE not moving as another vehicle was honking for the vehicle to move. The officer tried to engage in a traffic stop with driver but the vehicle fled.
According to the criminal complaint, 29-year-old Juan Quinones fled from the officer and the officer immediately disengaged the pursuit per department policy. The same officer was patrolling the area later in the night and pulled into McDonald’s parking lot at 8601 Central Ave NE. He then observed the same vehicle that fled from him earlier in the drive thru waiting for food. The officer and another officer conducted a traffic stop while he was stuck in the drive thru traffic and they had Quinones exit his vehicle and promptly placed him under arrest.

The complaint goes on to say that Quinones was argumentative with the arresting officer and wanted to talk to a supervisor on scene. The report does not go into detail whether Quinones was mad about not being able to complete his McDonald’s order.
The officers did a preliminary search of the vehicle and found a gun and fentanyl pills.
Quinones was charged with aggravated fleeing from law enforcement related to the earlier incident. He could now face additional charges once the search warrant is completed of his vehicle. Quinones has a New Mexico criminal record dating back to 2012.
