Albuquerque – According to the Bernalillo County District Attorney’s office, Phillip Valencia will remain in jail. Valencia was charged with severely beating a 5-year-old boy. Photos obtained from the hearing showed pictures of an extremely battered child clinging to life when officers arrived on the scene due to an anonymous tip.

Today, a judge ruled that Phillip Valencia will stay in custody as his case progresses through the judicial system.
Police say that in late October, they were called to an ABQ home after a tip that a child was found severely injured. When the police arrived, they found the little boy with severe bruising on his face and entire body. The boy was beaten so badly that his eyes were swollen shut.
