Greyhound Bus Driver Critical After Crash

Albuquerque-

Last night at 11:20PM Albuquerque Police were dispatched to a single vehicle crash involving a Greyhound bus on the Frontage road near 12th and I-40.

When officers arrived they found the driver in critical condition and the bus hit a light pole. An investigation found the driver and a passenger had a dispute. The passenger grabbed the wheel and caused the bus to crash.

According to the criminal complaint, a man named Leroy Maass from Washington State jumped a plexiglass divider and grabbed the wheel of the bus.

The driver was taken to a local hospital in critical condition. Six passengers were taken to the hospital with injuries. Maass is under police custody at the hospital and will be booked on

3 counts of Aggravated Battery (Great Bodily Harm) 3rd Degree Felony

2 counts of Aggravated Battery (Misdemeanor) (No Great Bodily Harm)

The passenger who caused the crash will likely face federal charges for interfering with the bus operation.
