A teen is seen handcuffed and placed into the back of a police car at the Luxury Apartment Complex located at 2500 Carlisle Bl NE.
Albuquerque, NM – According to an email received by the Albuquerque Police Department’s sworn PIO Chase Jewell, APD is investigating a shooting death that happened in the early morning hours of Friday, April 21st, 2023.
Around 2AM, APD Officers were dispatched to the area of 2500 Carlisle Blvd NE, which is the Luxury Apartments, for reports of a shooting. When APD Officers arrived on scene, they found one individual who had sustained a gunshot wound. The victim had already died from their injuries at the complex.

The Albuquerque Police Homicide Unit has taken over this shooting death investigation. When we received APD’s original email, Officer Jewell said that “currently, there are multiple calls for service that might be related to this incident, we only have reports of one individual being deceased from gunfire. We are working on securing those scenes and conducting interviews. An update will be provided if more information is available”.
While ABQ RAW was on scene, we saw a uniformed officer escorting what looked to be a handcuffed teen to the back of a police unit.
We have been told that the victim may have been a Cibola High School student, but he was not identified.

This is the 39th homicide for the Albuquerque Metro Area for 2023.
