Albuquerque –
At around 7AM, a Dollar Tree employee was set to open up their store located at 1511 Goff Blvd SW. When she arrived on scene, she observed a regular customer laying on the ground in front of the store. She checked to see if he was alive and found a gunshot wound.
“When I approached him to check for a heartbeat, I noticed there was a gunshot wound to the back of his head,” said the Dollar Tree employee who wished to stay anonymous.
She said she called 911 after she made the discovery, and the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to the store.
When we arrived on scene, it was around the lunch hour and the investigation in front of the store was already completed. All that was left was blood spatter near the front of the entrance of the store. The Dollar Tree was closed for the day.
BCSO detectives were seen canvassing the area and interviewing possible witnesses to the execution style killing.
“He had told me that he had somebody was messing with him and that, you know, he was afraid for his life. We call him Mike,” said the employee.
We reached out to the BCSO public affairs office at 11AM and at the time of publishing this story we have not heard back from them.
This is the 99th homicide in the Duke City for 2025, and tenth homicide for the month of September.
