Albuquerque –
Around 1:45PM, the Albuquerque Police Department was called to the Bel-Air Miramontes Park, on the 3800 block of Phoenix Ave NE, in reference to a stabbing victim. When police arrived they found the stabbing victim at a homeless encampment inside the usually nice park.
A suspect was seen fleeing the park and was apprehended a short time later at the now defunct Pizza Hut at 2640 Carlisle Blvd. NE. While on scene we observed what appeared to be weapons and drugs next to a bike.
At the Bel-Air Miramontes Park, a resident neighbor came up to us saying they have been trying to get the homeless moved out of the park for 16 days to no avail. While on scene we were approached by a woman who police had identified as a witness. The woman’s eyes were massively dilated and she began rapid firing questions about why we were there filming. She smelled of unfiltered cigarettes and cheap booze and she eventually returned back to a park bench with her fellow homeless crew.
The victim was transported to UNMH with non-life threatening wounds. We will update this story when we have a suspect identified for this stabbing incident.
Wow, and I thought Montgomery park was getting bad. Sad we have to give up our parks for them to do drugs and drink.
