UNM Police and NM State Police secure a scene of a homicide on UNM Campus
The Albuquerque Police Department said one person was found with gunshot wounds and the victim was subsequently pronounced deceased at the scene.
According to a spokesman from the Albuquerque Police Department, they were assisting the University of New Mexico Police Department with a homicide investigation. The shooting occurred within the UNM Campus around 3:00am Saturday morning. APD said later that NM State Police were taking over the homicide investigation.
The Albuquerque Police Department and University of New Mexico Police Department have said this is an isolated incident, this is not an active shooter and there is no present danger to students on campus or the public.
This is the 157th homicide of 2022.
