Albuquerque –
On September 14th, 2026, the Albuquerque Police Department was called to a Dollar General in regards to two victims leaving their home due to a domestic violence incident. According to the criminal complaint, police made contact with the calling victims and they stated 47-year-old Isaac CdeBaca got into a verbal disturbance with his wife. She indicated he was on high meth.
The complaint goes on to say he threw some dog milk bones throughout the house and then grabbed a kitchen knife. He then proceeded to threaten his wife and daughter with the kitchen knife.
The complaint goes on to say, an APD officer went to make contact at the house on the 500 block of La Veta and he observed CdeBaca sitting outside the home in his truck. While the officer was waiting for backup, the suspect noticed the officer and he ran back in the house and barricaded himself. He then called and texted his wife and daughters.
While were on scene the wife, the alleged victim and her older adult daughter drove up to the scene at an aggressively high rate of speed. The mother daughter duo took notice of all the activity and began to berate neighbors and our crew who were filming the police activity.
Sgt. Maxwell Smith met with the angry family members and added fuel to the situation by having a historical bias against ABQ RAW. Sergeant Smith has gone on record numerous times stating his angst towards our organization. We stood our ground even as the wife and older daughter threatened physical violence toward our crew as the Sergeant cheered them on and encouraged them to continue the violence and gestures. Other officers were on scene to separate the family from other neighbors and our crew even though Sergeant Maxwell encouraged the environment of stress and violence. Sergeant Maxwell is the most unprofessional supervisor we have ever encountered and we will let the department know what we think of him and his leadership style.
The mother daughter duo also used numerous hand gestures showing we were the number one news source and then began using homophobic slurs toward the numerous gathering people who were filming or watching the action unfold. The angry duo could be heard on the phone with CdeBaca the entire time and he was reportedly texting with them back and forth. At one point CdeBaca sent a photo showing he had cut his arm allegedly with a knife. This prompted the angry daughter to announce out loud to us that her father had killed himself. He had NOT in fact killed himself.
After securing the perimeter for a few hours, the Albuquerque SWAT team was called to the scene to resolve the situation. A heavy downpour started, and he finally willingly gave up to police. Rescue attended to CdeBaca after the arrest and affixed a piece of gauze to his arm wound.
According to the criminal complaint, CdeBaca stated he had been arguing with his wife for over a week and his wife caused a commotion while he was sleeping. He did say he grabbed a knife to open the dog treats but at no point did he ever threaten his wife.
CdeBaca was charged with 2 counts of aggravated assault against a household member and fleeing law enforcement.
