According to initial information, officers from the Albuquerque Police Department were dispatched around 6:40 PM to the 5920 block of McLeod Rd NE after receiving reports that a person may have been shot.

Witnesses in the area described seeing numerous APD units near the intersections of McLeod Rd and San Pedro Dr NE, as well as McLeod Rd NE and Overland St NE.

Around 7:45 PM, APD’s Sworn PIO Chase Jewell said the incident appears to be a behavioral health call rather than a confirmed act of violence.

“It looks like a behavioral health call. No call outs have been made, yet, but it appears to be a suicide. No official confirmation though,” Detective Jewell said.

Authorities from APD say the situation remains under investigation, but presently there is no threat to the public.
