Criminalists work the scene of the latest homicide in SE ABQ
According to APD, the shooting victim was a 36-year-old woman. She was transported to a local hospital Monday afternoon, but she died as a result of her wound. APD Homicide Detectives are still trying to locate her next of kin, so the victim is not being identified at this time.
Initially, Kristina Withrow told police that she is the one who shot the 36-year-old victim. However, she eventually admitted that her son indeed fired the shots after several witnesses told detectives a man fired the handgun and fled the scene.
Withrow said that she assumed the victim was homeless and Withrow told the victim to leave the walkway near her apartment. Allegedly, there was an argument between the two women. Withrow said she retrieved her handgun as the female victim walked toward her. Withrow said she did not know if the female victim was armed, so Withrow handed the gun to her son and said Withrow told her son to shoot. Her son then fired three shots at the victim.
