Albuquerque – We have now learned that last night’s murder-suicide at the Olympus Encantado Luxury Apartments involved an APD Cadet and her husband. There was some sort of domestic incident just prior, and their young child was sent outside with a note for neighbors. APD Academy staff were briefed about the incident last night, and counseling staff were available for staff and other cadets today at the academy.

APD’s civilian director of communications Gilbert Gallegos, said in a release after we broke our story said that 32-year-old Taylor Hagan a cadet in the current police academy was killed. He said Briton Hagan, 41, shot his wife Taylor, and then himself.

Hagan, center, poses with fellow APD recruits in an Instagram post that was posted by APD Recruiting page.

“Taylor was working hard to meet the challenges of becoming an APD officer,” Police Chief Harold Medina said in a statement. “She chose to serve the community as a police officer and keep the community safe.”

This story is still developing, and we will bring you more as it becomes available.
