Police Investigate Suspicious Death in NE ABQ

Albuquerque –

Around 7:20 PM, officers from the Albuquerque Police responded to reports of a man who entered the Circle K at San Mateo Blvd NE and McLeod Rd NE, made concerning statements to employees, and left. Officers were dispatched to the Circle K to try to locate and make contact with the individual.

Prior to officers arriving at the Circle K, there were reports of a shooting near Hardware Dr NE and McLeod Rd NE. It was reported that a man was located with what appeared to be a gunshot wound.

Investigators are working to determine whether the man who entered the Circle K and the man found with a possible gunshot wound are the same individual.

Officers have closed numerous streets in the area to conduct an investigation into this death. APD is currently classifying the death as suspicious while detectives and crime scene investigators gather additional evidence and consult with the Office of the Medical Investigator.

APD’s homicide unit has been called out to investigate.
