Rotting Dead Body Found in Future City Affordable Housing High Rise

Albuquerque –

On August 24th, 2025, the Albuquerque Police Department was dispatched to the 200 block of San Mateo Blvd NE, in regards to a dead body found on inside of one of the San Mateo Towers. We observed the OMI vehicle on scene with police.

Albuquerque Fire Rescue had to cut down some doors to gain entry into the building and to find the deceased person. At this time, APD and the OMI are trying to figure out the cause of death.

Route 66 Multi Family LLC purchased the properties and is in the process of taking advantage of City of Albuquerque tax credits. Late last week, Mayor Tim Keller had a press conference cancelled due to an officer-involved shooting at the Los Altos Lofts touting affordable city housing. Instead of the press conference, Mayor Keller recorded a video in front of the San Mateo Towers. Unbeknownst to him and his staff, there was a dead body rotting away inside of the San Mateo Towers.

“These two offices buildings have been vacant for like two years also know our city has a housing shortage,” said Mayor Tim Keller in a pre recorded video posted on the Mayor’s Facebook page.

He goes on to say “we are getting close in fixing the housing crisis in Albuquerque with these towers on Route 66.” Mayor Keller said the plan is to turn the buildings into mixed use housing. It should be noted the original video was subbed out. The original video had a utility box in the foreground with graffiti that said:

WILL SUCK & FUCK 4 CLR

The box had a message with a phone number scrawled next to it and the connotation for CLR is for methamphetamine. The Mayor’s staff replaced the video with a cropped in version so that the message could not be seen anymore.

We will update this story if this turns into a homicide call out.
