Shooting in Downtown Albuquerque Leaves One Person Dead

Around 2:40 PM, officers with the Albuquerque Police Department responded to the area of 2nd St and Marquette Ave NW regarding a report of a shooting. Initial information indicated there may have been more than one victim.

When officers arrived, they located one person who had been shot. The individual was found in extremely critical condition. Medical personnel from AFR provided emergency medical aid at the scene; however, the victim died from their injuries at the listed location.

The offender fled the scene.

Numerous streets in downtown Albuquerque are closed as APD’s homicide detectives and crime scene investigators respond to conduct an investigation.

This marks the second homicide callout in less than 24 hours, amid a series of violent incidents reported across Albuquerque since Thursday evening.

On September 3, around 5:25 PM, a stabbing near I-40 and Louisiana reportedly escalated into a violent confrontation, leaving the stabbing suspect critically injured after being dragged along Louisiana.

Later on Thursday night, around 10 PM, a man was fatally shot near the Chase Bank at Coors and Central. Two suspects were reportedly seen fleeing this homicide scene.

The violence continued Friday afternoon. Around 1:50 PM, a person was stabbed and robbed near San Mateo and Prospect. The offender fled the scene.

Then, around 2:40 PM, a man was shot and killed in downtown Albuquerque. The suspect also fled the scene.
