Shooting in NE ABQ Under Investigation by APD

Albuquerque –

Around 10:00 PM, a shooting was reported in the 7500 block of Pennsylvania Ln NE. The circumstances leading to the shooting remain unclear, but a caller advised police that one person sustained a gunshot wound to the chest. Officers from the Albuquerque Police Department were dispatched to the scene.

When officers arrived, they reportedly detained one individual for questioning and immediately began to render medical aid to the person who was shot. Albuquerque Fire was dispatched to the scene but the exact condition of the person shot is unknown.

UPDATE:

Around 11 PM, it was discovered that the APD’s Gun Violence Reduction Unit (GVRU) would be investigating the shooting. This indicates that the individual who was shot was transported to a nearby hospital by medical personnel and was reported to be alive upon arrival.
