At approximately 5:20 AM on April 17, Albuquerque Fire Rescue was dispatched to the 400 block of Fruit Ave NE for reports of a possible structure fire. Rescue 3 arrived first on scene and reported a one-story multifamily residential structure with heavy fire showing from a single unit. A working fire was declared.

Crews initiated an aggressive offensive fire attack, and the incident was brought under control within 10 minutes of arrival. The involved apartment sustained significant fire damage and is considered a total loss.

No civilian or firefighter injuries were reported. One deceased feline was located during primary searches.

AFR Fire Investigators responded to the scene to conduct a cause and origin investigation. At this time, the investigation remains ongoing and no further information is available.
